The 2018 CAUDIT Leadership Institute (CLI) had a bittersweet end as we farewelled colleague Gene Spencer who completed his final year following the completion of the program in August.
Representing one of two USA based faculty members, Gene, CIO, Ursinus College, Pennsylvania, began his CLI journey back in 2013 when he signed on for his engagement. Things must have gone well as he committed to a one-year extension bringing his total tenure to six years.
In recognising his significant contributions to the development of the program content - most recently with ‘Leading with Emotional Intelligence’ and ‘Decision-Making in Ambiguity’, Gene has shown and expressed an in-depth and personal appreciation of core elements of leadership characteristics. His passion has been clear as has his genuine rapport with the participants that he has met and bonded with each year.
During the 2018 Institute held at the Gold Coast, Qld, Gene was presented with the CAUDIT Meritorious Award by CLI Director, Michael Kirby-Lewis, in recognition of his significant contribution made towards the advancement of Information Technology, Libraries and eResearch support in the higher education sector, and service to CAUDIT through his participation on the CAUDIT Leadership Institute faculty.
