In challenging times, it is encouraging to see that our EA community is still connected and strong. Many of our members are at the coal face helping their institutions respond to new challenges and accelerate existing initiatives much faster than ever before, with the shared experiences of our community helping to speed things up a little more.
Welcome to all the new members of the community, and if you haven’t already signed up to Yammer and the Google Group - please go here and join in: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/EACOP-signup.
The in-person EA2020 Symposium is deferred until 2021 due to COVID-19, however registrations are now open for a free virtual symposium hosted by the community with theme "The New Normal" between 23-25 November 2020.
Invitation for contributions and participation for this event has been sent out to the EA community by the organising committee.
Next year’s 2021 Symposium will be hosted by the University of Newcastle, keeping the theme that was planned for this year, “Looking Ahead”. After expressions of interest earlier this year, it has been agreed that James Cook University will host EA2022.
As this year has brought many new challenges and glimpses of digital transformation, this future focus will provide many discussions and ideas on how learnings from this year, can enhance institutions’ ability to deliver in an uncertain future.
Make sure you’re kept up to date by joining your EA Community here.
Our congregations this year have been less frequent than we would like, but always valuable when we do have them. We will be scheduling a new series shortly, so make sure you are on the EA CoP google list, and watch for the invite soon.
Travel restrictions and medium term financial challenges that we will all be facing has meant the postponement of two initiatives that were planned last year for the community. The first being the opportunity to undertake role-swap between like-minded universities, there were several of these lined up, which are now on hold. The second being an opportunity to undertake a study tour of some US universities. We will be sure to revisit these opportunities as soon as deemed appropriate.
The EA2020 symposium is still going ahead, and will be held during the 4th week of November. This year's theme is “Looking Ahead”. Planning is well and truly underway, but like so many other things it is likely to be impacted by travel and budget restrictions. The planning committee are exploring alternate options to an in-person symposium - like hybrid and virtual, including as much interactivity as possible. A decision on the format will be made in June. Watch out for calls for content contributions.
Our data reference model update is almost published! It has been a long but fruitful and rewarding experience and we are almost at the next major milestone for our models. With over 900 hours put in by the working group, our entities and their descriptions are ready pending the final layout of the visual model and finalising the change log. Thank you to everyone who has contributed through the community consultation phase, we have reviewed all comments and made updates or checked/confirmed questions raised. Watch this space for a formal launch very shortly.
Thanks everyone and we will see you online soon!
