The AHECS Cybersecurity Summit is an annual conference developed by the sector, for the sector with a focus on the Higher Education and Research Cybersecurity, Identity Management and Privacy Community. The Summit provides an exclusive opportunity for significant networking, presentations and advantageous discussions.
In 2020, the Inaugural AHECS Cybersecurity Summit was held. Initially organised as a two day face to face event and later transitioned to an online virtual venue. Each year highlights different capability gaps and the AHECS Cybersecurity Summit serves as an opportunity to work collaboratively in addressing the challenging threat landscape and examine solutions to successfully manage it.
It brings together the cybersecurity sector’s thought leaders and technical experts; the existing and potential users of your organisation’s products and services.
Engagement Events & Activities
occurs biannually, usually in April and October
In the autumn and spring of each year, CAUDIT holds a Members Meeting which curates an opportunity for networking, thought leadership, sharing of innovation and good practice, and collaborative discussion.
Attendees at these Members Meeting include the member representatives and their senior colleagues. Invitations are sent to CIOs of the 63 CAUDIT member institutions across Australia and New Zealand. They are also welcomed to extend an invitation to their direct reports and wider colleagues. Practice to date, for face-to-face meetings is for the CIO to bring a ‘+1’. With the introduction of online meetings in 2020, this was expanded to include as many of the CIO’s direct reports and their peers as they wish. Each meeting features a program of curated keynote presentations, sessions that showcase insights and opportunities from member institution staff and researchers, as well as sector associations and leaders and industry experts. In general, these meetings are held across two days at a different location each time.
Please note, Member Meetings are not ‘vendor heavy’ and remain an intimate and engaging setting based upon defined themes pertinent to the CIOs and their colleagues. This is not a sales pitch/trade show environment.
The CAUDIT Awards recognise, celebrate and promote the outstanding achievements and innovation of staff working in IT in CAUDIT member organisations, and the application of digital capabilities which positively transform the experience of students, academics and professional staff.
Sponsorship of 'The CAUDIT Awards' provides an opportunity for your organisation to support the best and brightest technologists and emerging leaders in the sector, build brand awareness, and demonstrate your commitment to supporting excellence and innovation in information technology within the higher education and research sector.
Study Tours are organised nationally (within Australia) and internationally and are determined by the level of interest of members. The tours, depending on their specific interest, visit relevant institutions and/or vendors to familiarise themselves with the current technologies and procedures used.
They also provide a great opportunity to meet and mingle with the industry people, acquire new contacts, and of course obtain valuable knowledge to introduce to their relevant institutions.
The Study Tour groups are usually kept small in size (usually between 10 to 20 participants) which allows for maximised engagement between participants and sponsors. Vendor visits are built into the program when the tour is face to face, in 2020 a four nation virtual study tour was conducted in partnership with sister insitutions in South Africa (ASAUDIT) and the United Kingdom (ucisa).
