Agentic AI – next steps for mission-driven initiatives at your institution
presented by AWS
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the world's most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud, offering over 200 fully featured services from data centers globally. With a mission to accelerate digital transformation in education, AWS partners with learners, educators, administrators, and researchers across more than 14,000 education institutions worldwide.
Agentic AI represents a transformative opportunity for higher education institutions to improve student outcomes, enhance operational efficiency, and advance their educational missions. Peer-verified evidence from implementations demonstrates substantial quantifiable benefits including 8-23% improvements in student grades, 16-38% reductions in course withdrawals, significant cost savings and efficiency gains.
The generative AI in the EdTech sector budget is anticipated to increase from $191 million in 2023 to $5.26 billion by 2033, representing a CAGR of 40.5%. A study by Gartner indicates that institutions adopting cloud solutions can reallocate 20-30% of their IT budgets to other educational resources. Best practices for cost optimisation include implementing pay-as-you-go models for storage, right-sizing compute resources, using reserved instances for predictable workloads, implementing automated cost monitoring and alerts, and establishing cloud governance policies.
Teaching and Learning, agentic AI has the potential to create truly personalized learning experiences that adapt in real-time to individual student needs, learning styles, and progress with potential for student performance improvements of approximately 15-20% Student success and retention, agentic AI systems have the potential to identify at-risk students earlier and more accurately than current early warning systems, enabling proactive interventions that prevent academic difficulties before they become crises.
Research, agentic AI has the potential to dramatically accelerate the research process by automating literature reviews, identifying relevant studies, synthesising findings, and suggesting research directions based on gaps in existing literature.
Successful implementation requires three key factors according to Robots and Pencils’ September 2025 analysis. Data maturity ensures access to clean, integrated data from core systems. Process standardisation requires documented and consistent workflows. Cultural openness means staff viewing technology as an enabler rather than a threat. Institutions strong in all three areas see faster implementation and higher adoption rates.
AWS is well-positioned to establish leadership in this market through its comprehensive service portfolio, combined with the largest cloud market share and extensive educational programs.
In this session AWS will discuss some of the initiatives they are leading globally and describe how they can collaborate as hand-in-glove partners to meet an institution’s needs, enhancing their efficacy and impact.
