Jill Benn
Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous)
University of Western Australia

Jill has significant experience in a variety of senior leadership roles in the higher education sector and is currently the Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous) at the University of Western Australia (UWA). Her Aboriginal connection is to Ballardong, one of the 14 Noongar language groups in South-Western Australia. Prior to her current role, Jill was the inaugural Director, University Transformation and Improvement and held a range of leadership roles in the Library sector, including as the University Librarian at UWA for 10 years and as the Chair of the Council of Australian University Librarians (CAUL) 2019-2023. Jill is currently an elected member on UWA’s highest governing body, UWA Senate, and Chairs the Australian Research Data Commons HASS + Indigenous Advisory Panel. She is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK) and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Jill is focused on strategic partnership, collective leadership, collaboration and engagement to develop and improve the higher education sector.
