Jill Benn

Jill has significant experience in senior leader roles in the higher education sector and is currently the Director, University Transformation and Improvement at the University of Western Australia (UWA). She is proud of her Noongar Ballardong Aboriginal heritage. Prior to her current role, Jill held a range of roles in the Library sector, including as the University Librarian at UWA for 10 years and was Chair of the Council of Australian University Librarians (CAUL) from 2019-2023. Jill is currently an elected member on UWA’s highest governing body, UWA Senate, is the Co-Chair of the Research Data Alliance Council, and Chair of the Australian Research Data Commons HASS + Indigenous Expert Advisory Panel. Jill is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK) and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Jill has led several key initiatives at UWA including significant library refurbishments and major changes resulting in improved outcomes for researchers and for students. Jill is focused on strategic partnership, collaboration and engagement to develop and improve university services.
In addition to serving as a Faculty Member for the CAUDIT Leadership Institute, Jill was Chair of the Council of Australian University Librarians (CAUL) from 2019-2023 and is the current Co-Chair of the Research Data Alliance Council.
