Presentation Summary
Kubernetes has become the backbone of modern IT transformation, offering automation, scalability, and efficiency for containerised applications. It enables organisations to adopt microservices, accelerate deployment cycles, and maintain consistent environments across hybrid and multi-cloud infrastructures. While Kubernetes simplifies Day 1 operations like deployment and scaling, it introduces challenges in Day 2 operations, where managing the lifecycle of applications becomes critical. Key issues include monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimising workloads in dynamic environments. Another challenge lies in managing updates. Rolling out Kubernetes upgrades without disrupting services demands a clear strategy and tools. Additionally, resource optimisation can be tricky as over-provisioning leads to waste, while under-provisioning risks performance bottlenecks. Security is a significant concern in Day 2 operations. Misconfigured role-based access controls (RBAC), lack of network policies, and unpatched vulnerabilities can expose the infrastructure to threats. Kubernetes’ native features, combined with third-party tools, help mitigate these risks. Daryush Ashjari in his talk will address how to navigate these challenges by building a sustainable modern infrastructure.
