Liv Gjestvang is Vice President and CIO at Denison University, where she leads digital transformation with a focus on student success, pedagogical innovation, and building a strong, joyful team culture. A leader in AI innovation in higher education, she has hosted two national summits on AI and is driving Denison’s efforts to prepare students for an AI-powered workforce while modernizing the university’s infrastructure and operations.
Before Denison, Liv worked on the Higher Education Strategy team at Amazon Web Services and spent 15 years at The Ohio State University, where she led the award-winning Digital Flagship initiative and launched programs that saved students over $50 million in course content. Liv has written and presented about transformational leadership for the Global Learning Council, Chronicle of Higher Education, and Ted.com. She has been recognized with the EDUCAUSE Rising Star, AWS Think Big, and ORBIE CIO of the Year awards, and currently chairs the 2026 EDUCAUSE Annual Conference. Liv lives in Ohio with her partner and two kids, who have surpassed her in height and are rapidly overtaking her in the pool. She enjoys reading, hiking, swimming, and good takeout.
