Michael Cato

Michael Cato is the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer (SVP and CIO) at Bowdoin College, USA. He is currently the faculty director of the Next Leaders Fellowship and a former faculty member of the EDUCAUSE Leadership Institute and EDUCAUSE Management Institute.

Michael is an accomplished technology executive who has spent over 20 years leading teams committed to using IT to support the teaching, learning, and research mission of Higher Education institutions. His professional activities reflect a focus on developing leaders with an emphasis on the array of opportunities and challenges around Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Michael holds a BS in Zoology from Andrews University and an MBA from Wake Forest University. He has received a number of notable awards including the 2021 EDUCAUSE Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Leadership Award.

Michael loves to learn, read, eat, occasionally cook, and starts most weekdays being humbled by a CrossFit workout. He is raising an awesome son with his partner and wife Heather.
